I blame it all on Concrete5 CMS.
A few months ago, Karen(Jackpine Web Design) introduced me(RJ Lewis Design) to Concrete5 as a great content management system and we started collaborating on client projects regularly. After a few months of this; epiphany! Maybe we should make a concerted effort to work together to gain more clients and handle more work by dividing it between us and thus our studio was born...erhm I mean created.
As with any venture, there are challenges; new concepts that neither of us had to tackle before. Jack&Jean Studios’ inital obstacles included neither of us being in the same place, neither of using the same software platforms and general business issues; such as how to deal with salaries, lack of physical location, taxation, corporate structure, not to mention active collaboration in a virtual environment. We wanted to be able to work together as seamlessly as if we are in the same place and establish an organization with the potential to grow and be viable for more people.
More on all of that later. ;-)
